Some of the achievements of our dazzling Voce Bella voices…. Just a few of the noteworthy talents and performances by these singers.
Faye, winner of “A Star is Born” sang at the Ipswich Lord Mayor’s Carols, and is always available to sing live Jazz, Blues and Soul for events. With her powerful lower register, and natural feel for Soul, Faye is a fabulous performer who really puts her heart into her music. When she isn’t singing Soul, Faye will often perform Opera, proving that a good singer can wear many hats! Often, I will go along with Faye and make a cameo appearance to air some of my Billie Holiday or other Jazz and Blues or Classical songs.
Paris is a regular performer at Anzac Day Services at the Railways Workshops Museum, North Ipswich, and also in Ipswich Central. She has performed at Springfield Carols by the Lake, been a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent, and is a multiple prize, Championship and Bursary winner at Eisteddfodau throughout South East Qld. She has also won First and Second places at the prestigious Music Teachers Association “Sunday in May”. More recently, at Beenleigh Eistedfodd, this young singer won 6 Firsts, and three trophies for her outstanding performances. Paris is currently studying Grade 7 Classical exams, Grade 6 Musical Theatre exams, and Grade 3 Music Theory. With her passion for Musical Theatre, abundant natural talent and acquired ability and experience, I am sure she will be very successful in any musical arena!
Kalisha regularly sings for the Anzac Day Service at Goodna, and has won numerous singing competitions including “A Star is Born”, The Goodna Jacaranda Festival Talent Quest, and has performed at the Ipswich Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols. She has a very apparent natural musicality, and a lovely, warm voice with loads of “feel”, especially for Soul, Motown, and Blues music. It is always a bittersweet time for music teachers when their students grow up and move on, and I will always be very proud of Kalisha, most especially for singing at the Anzac services.
Bailee is a valued member of her school Chorale, and has taken her place on the stage in musical productions in Ipswich. She is a multiple prize winner at Eisteddfodau, and has performed at numerous local concerts for charity and other events as well as “A Star is Born” and the Goodna Jacaranda Festival. Bailee has been cast in the coveted role of Morticia Addams in her IGGS school musical, and absolutely wowed the crowd with her outstanding performance. She is now studying dancing (a Diploma course) with a view to auditioning for a role studying a Musical Theatre Degree, her chosen genre. Bailee has always had a great stage presence, and will no doubt enjoy a career on the boards.
Tayah has been a successful competitor at the Australian National Eisteddfod at Canberra, performed on stage at “A Star is Born”, charity concerts, and been a prize winning contestant at eisteddfodau. Tayah sang Suo Gan, the Welsh Lullaby, to take second place at Silkstone eisteddfod at only just nine years of age.
Whitney is currently in a Jazz ensemble, is a multiple prize winner at eisteddfodau, and has been a much valued voice in local theatre productions.
Caitlin is a multiple prize and bursary winner at eisteddfodau, has performed in numerous musicals including the 2014 production of “Cats”, and, been chosen as one of only fifty young ladies to sing with the Australian Youth Choir in France in 2014. She has also been extremely successful at Eisteddfod throughout both Ipswich and Brisbane. Cait has a truly beautiful voice, and although she is currently taking a rest from singing in order to complete her study at school, I hope she will continue to share her gift of song with the world.
Dominique has performed regularly at concerts, and Christmas and Charity events, been a valued performer on the stage of musicals, and participated very successfully in eisteddfodau in Ipswich and Brisbane, as well as singing Jazz at dinner restaurants in Brisbane. She has performed live for Charity concerts in both Brisbane and Ipswich, and is currently studying for her Grade 6 AMEB Classical exams. A gifted pianist, Dominique has ambitions to recommence her study of piano in the future, time permitting.
Chloe is a fabulous young singer who performed in front of hundreds of people at her very first solo performance. She was all of six years old at the time! More recently, she won the opportunity, by audition, to travel to the UK for the Matilda Medley workshop and performance. Chloe will be a keen – and formidable – competitor at eisteddfodau throughout the Brisbane and Ipswich area. Recently, this young lady, having just turned 7, competed at her first eisteddfod where she was awarded three Firsts, one Second and a Third in the Five sections entered. She also won the 12 and Under Bursary at Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod – a considerable achievement! Chloe now studies piano and Music theory, a wise choice for a committed singer. With excellent pitch and intonation, great stage presence, passion and dedication, I expect Chloe to go far in her chosen genre, Musical Theatre.
Kate is a mature age singer with a lovely soprano voice, who is studying Grade 7 Classical exams, as well as Music Theory. Having enjoyed performing flamboyant and charismatic lead roles in Musical Theatre, Kate is now working towards completion of her Classical studies, and may decide to teach music herself in the future.
Lauren, too, has a really lovely Soprano voice! This year, Lauren has commenced working towards completing Classical Grade 8 AMEB exams, after taking a break due to work commitments. Lauren has a bubbly personality that makes her an absolute joy to work with, and I expect to get through this year with flying colours. Later this year, work permitting, Lauren will be recommencing competition singing at Eisteddfodau.
Marjorie is a new singer at Voce Bella Studio. She has a strong voice more suited to songs with a little lower overall tessitura, loads of natural ability and talent, and this year will see her performing solo at various events throughout Ipswich. Recently, she also commenced lessons at piano and music theory to round off her musicianship and support her career as a singer. I believe we will see Marjorie performing on the big stage somewhere very soon.
Robyn has the type of voice that is a pleasure with which to work. A quality Mezzo with even vibrato, a clear tone, and beautiful timbre. Although she performs at QPAC more often than anywhere else, she is currently working with me on some material for both study and leisure.
Lauren is a delight in every way! With her lovely soprano voice, keen ear, and willingness to embrace new concepts, Grade 8 will be a breeze for this charming young singer! It is very easy to teach someone with such abundant talent and enthusiasm.
Amy makes my day with her clear and bell like high notes! Another lovely voice, another keen and committed singer who will surely succeed in any genre. Amy is currently working on Grade Four AMEB, Eisteddfod pieces, and duets.
Elizabeth is a new young singer and pianist with great joie de vivre! This year, at six, she has commenced both singing and piano, and – with loads of natural talent and feel – I hope to see her performing in public soon.
Kris has the natural grace borne of her lifelong study of ballet. In the past couple of years, she has taken up singing, and is progressing very well singing different genres from Jazz to Musical Theatre, and now enjoying working on duets with me, holding her harmony line beautifully – it’s a lot of fun! Kris is looking at possible study with AMEB when she can find the time in her busy schedule. Kris has suffered from some vocal issues in the past, largely from dropping her natural speaking tone to a lower out of range, professional phone manner, but we are overcoming those hurdles now, and moving forward quickly. I commend her dedication, and am thrilled to see such overwhelming results.
Lincoln. Now here is a student who has been endowed with loads of natural talent at the piano! I call him Beethoven, and we enjoy a great deal of banter in between working, yet seem to get a lot done. Lincoln can play any style with equal gusto. Although he is busy with schoolwork, he always seems to manage to amaze me with his prowess at the keyboard.
Tyler is an awesome, dedicated and disciplined young pianist. I am so very pleased with her work, and given that she is a very young student, she shows the capacity to be outstanding in the future.
Yasmin is another fabulous, and very spirited, young pianist who loves piano (and cats!) Yassie can sing well, but her first love is the piano. Her sister, Tayah, has successfully competed at eisteddfod as a singer, most notably having placed for two Seconds in the National Eisteddfod at Canberra. Tayah has a lovely voice, is naturally musical with excellent time and intonation. She has also performed at various occasions and Christmas events throughout the region.
Avalon is a new student who has just commenced singing with Voce Bella Music. She loves singing, and we will all be very excited to see her progress in the future!
